Before her case was reached on the jury trial calendar, Rebecca Kipp pled guilty to Murder in the Second Degree for the death of her three month old child. The deceased infant was found in the home lying face down on a sofa, where Kipp had placed him hours before. After giving multiple stories to law enforcement in regard to the baby’s death, Kipp finally admitted that she had been frustrated with the child and left him unattended on the sofa while she slept from about 10:00 a.m. until her mother came home at about 1:30 p.m. The evidence supported that this was a case of negligent homicide. Kipp was given a sentence of 20 years, with the first 12 to be served in confinement (20 serve 12).
