What is the Genesis Academy
A Hopeful Future
The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Genesis Academy is an alternative to traditional court prosecution. This Academy is designed to help young (17-26), non-violent offenders with social services, skills, and job opportunities, which will aide their future decision-making.
This program allows young adult non-violent offenders an opportunity to make restitution for their crimes, while also maintaining accountability and personal responsibility. Upon successful completion of the program, attendees should be eligible to have their records restricted for the charged offense(s), thereby clearing a pathway toward a successful future.
Individuals who participate in this cognitive-based rehabilitative treatment program, lasting between 12-24 months, have had their cases nolle prosequied (dropped) and their records restricted.
This program seeks to reconcile each Candidate back into community: giving each young adult a second opportunity to create a positive impact in their own lives with an expanded set of tools and opportunities while also paying appropriate restitution to their Victims.
