Opposing Gang Members Gambling at Shot House Turns Deadly

They burned his body. They stripped away his clothing. They tried to erase every trace that Amond Norwood, 26, had ever existed. As a Bibb County jury was being selected today, Jerome Dewayne Beasley, 33, plead guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Assault and Concealing the Death of Another and was sentenced to 50 years with 20 to serve in prison.

On May 7, 2021, Bibb County investigators discovered Norwood’s body on Churchill Street dumped beneath a mattress. GPS data from an ankle monitor Norwood, a suspected Eastside Macon Mafia member, had been wearing, lead investigators to a second scene on Edwards Street where evidence confirmed that Norwood’s body had been set ablaze. Investigators then pieced together the full chain of events, working backward to the original crime.

The murder occurred on May 6, 2021, at a shot house on May Avenue, where a dispute escalated from a fistfight to a shooting. Margaton Dudley, Damion Felton and Beasley, each suspected to be associated with the Gangster Disciple gang, then loaded Norwood’s body into a truck, drove to Edwards Avenue, doused it with gasoline and set it on fire. His remains were moved a final time to Churchill Street beneath a mattress.

“Conflict over a dice game between rival gang members is rarely going to end well for anyone,” said Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard. “We are committed to holding people accountable for breaking the law, regardless of how dangerous their lifestyles are. This is a tragedy that could have been avoided.”

Co-defendant Dudley entered a guilty plea on April 10, 2026, and is awaiting sentencing. Codefendant Felton, who had been released on bond in connection with this case, was killed within 24 hours of his release. That murder remains unsolved.
