Macon Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Molestation
Three children received justice today as 37-year-old James Edward Brown, Jr., was sentenced to 30 years with the first 17 years in prison. Brown pled Guilty Monday, February 6, 2023, to three counts of Child Molestation, rather than face a jury of his peers. As a result of this plea, the three girls will not be forced to testify against Mr. Brown before a jury.
“Crimes against children are some of the most heinous crimes in our society,” said Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard. “Three young girls proved to be a force against evil when they told their Dad what Brown had done to them. We will do whatever it legally takes to fiercely protect the children in our community.”
Brown was the brother of the children’s babysitter. He had access to the children in the Spring of 2020, when the crimes occurred. The children disclosed to their father that Brown had been touching them. Their father immediately took the children to the Sheriff’s Office and an investigation was initiated.
