Getaway Driver in 2022 Holiday Robbery Spree Sentenced to 40 Years

Over four days during Bibb County School District’s 2022 Thanksgiving Break, a group of armed teenagers targeted victims at convenience stores, a gas station, and a local hotel, demanding keys and
vehicles, three of which were taken at gunpoint. On September 21, 2026, Jamarious Tucker, who was 15 years old at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to charges including Armed Robbery and Robbery by force for his role in the spree and was sentenced to 40 years, with 20 years to serve.

Tucker admitted to taking part in the theft of three separate vehicles as well as a robbery at the Walmart on Harrison Road. In each incident, Tucker helped approach the victims and then drove the stolen vehicles away from the scene. While he didn’t hold a weapon during the robberies, prosecutors say his role as the getaway driver was essential to every incident, making him equally accountable under Georgia law.

Tucker is the ninth of 10 defendants charged in the case to be convicted. The alleged gunman is the only remaining defendant who has yet to plead guilty or stand trial. At sentencing, the court considered the nature of the crimes, Tucker’s age at the time of the offenses, and his role in enabling the robberies.

“For four days, a group of armed teenagers instilled fear in our community, targeting innocent people at gas stations, convenience stores, and a local hotel,” said District Attorney Anita R. Howard. “Jamarious Tucker may not have held the gun, but he made every one of these robberies possible by driving the gunman to and from each scene. Under Georgia law, that makes him just as accountable, and his 40-year sentence reflects that. Nine of the ten people responsible for this spree have now been held accountable, and we will not rest until the tenth is as well. This a tragic situation where teenagers made decisions that derailed their lives. These types of crimes illustrate the importance of the youth initiatives offered by our office to provide young people with better options for more productive lives.”

The case was prosecuted by Alveta S. Watkins, Assistant Deputy Chief. The case was investigated by Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators Malcolm Bryant and Coleman Lewis, whose work connected the string of robberies and identified the individuals responsible.
