On January 13, 2023, Richard Lee Postell, 30, pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and participation in criminal street gang activity for the June 1, 2020, gang-related shooting death of a 24-year-old Fort Valley man. This fatal retaliatory shooting, as seen all too often in our Circuit, followed a previous incident during which several rival gang members fought, resulting in the broken neck of one of Postell’s fellow gang members. For this crime, Postell was sentenced to 30 years, with the first 20 years to be served in prison.
