“With Survivors, Always” Event Brings Together Community Leaders, Survivors, and Advocates to Combat Domestic Violence in Central Georgia.
MACON, GA – District Attorney Anita Howard invites community members, leaders, and public servants to join her for the annual “With Survivors, Always: Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium” on Wednesday, October 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Oval Hall, located at 4760 Forsyth Road in Macon.
This symposium addresses one of our community’s most pressing public safety concerns. According to CDC data from the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, an average of 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner every minute in the United States. Millions of Americans are impacted by domestic violence each year, making it a widespread issue that demands collective action.
“Domestic violence affects everyone in our community, and while not always immediately deadly, it can escalate quickly with devastating consequences,” said District Attorney Anita Howard. “This symposium
provides an essential opportunity for us to come together as community members, leaders, and public servants to explore solutions and stop domestic violence before it escalates.”
The three-hour symposium will feature powerful testimony from survivors, insights from activists, and perspectives from community leaders throughout Central Georgia. Attendees will engage in important discussions about:
• The prevalence and impact of domestic violence in our region
• Research-backed prevention and intervention strategies
• Pathways to healing and hope for affected communities
• Collaborative approaches to addressing domestic violence
Complimentary lunch will be provided to all attendees. Due to limited seating, early registration is strongly encouraged.
